Pokémon TCG was first released in Japan in 1996 and two years later in South America. The cards then became popular worldwide. They are based on the Japanese animation and video games known from the Pokémon series, mainly for the Nintendo Game Boy console. Inspiration also works the other way round, with the release of Pokemon TCG Online in 2012.
It’s worth noting that the abbreviation TCG comes from Trading Card Game, which means collectible card game in English. This explains a lot – Pokemon TCG is a set of cards that can be collected and donated, for example to a special album, and also used for exciting games.
POKEMON TCG – RULES OF THE GAME
Want to know how to play with Pokemon cards? The general rules are clear and very similar to most card games of this type. Two players play and each has their own deck of cards (there should be 60). The game starts with the selection of the person who starts the game by drawing lots. Each player then takes 7 cards from their deck – which they can place in the middle of the Pokémon. On the first turn, the enemy cannot attack the opponent, but on the next turn, a fierce battle begins, in which the strength of the individual Pokémon is crucial. The winner is the one who defeats 6 rival creatures, or if one player loses their entire deck.
Regular Pokémon are enough to play with, but the battle becomes more attractive when special cards such as those with EX or GX suffixes enter the arena. These prove that a given creature can perform a more powerful attack or has more health points. There are several types of cards and the level of progression depends on them. All of this makes Pokémon TCG ideal for kids and advanced tournament players alike.
For some, the biggest obstacle may be a lack of English, as only one series has been published in Polish so far – Teemant and Pearl. However, the repetition of a few single words and whole phrases makes it easy to understand the cards and to treat the game as a motivation to learn English.
POKEMON TCG FOR BEGINNERS.
If you’re just starting your adventure in the Pokémon universe, the Pokémon TCG Battle Academy is the perfect family activity. It’s a starter kit with XNUMX pre-made decks. They are very different from each other, but both have powerful cards with the aforementioned GX prefix, such as Charizard-GX. There is also a game board and other necessary accessories.
READY-MADE BATTLE KITS FOR ADVANCED PLAYERS.
If you want to play Pokémon TCG, you can collect the cards you need to play the game yourself, which is often time-consuming. If you don’t like to wait, choose a set of two ready-to-play decks with many accessories. These include a special Pokémon and a few extra cards, play mats, a damage tracker and even guides to help you unlock strategy or update your deck.
CARDS ARE NOT JUST FOR GAMES
Pokémon TCG is an attractive collection not only from the players’ point of view. You can successfully collect cards with the aim of collecting all creatures or some favourite and very valuable ones. To do this, special collection albums are useful to keep the collection in order and help to present it correctly. Pokémon cards can be found on the shelves of shops along with the album, or you can choose one separately by gradually buying card packs.
